In the beginning, there was one vision: the development and marketing of fresh, naturally ripened fruit from Africa, which creates added value along the entire supply chain, not just for customers and consumers, but also for the producers. This is why Hans Peter Werder established HPW AG in 1997.

In 1999 the first fresh cut and portion packed fruit for Europe was developed and launched for a Swiss retail chain in collaboration with a young English entrepreneur. A successful partnership that is still going strong, continually expanding and creating new products to this day.

Around this time, HPW AG food scouts also expanded their search in Africa and Asia for suitable fresh products for European retail markets. Food scouting and the development of innovative fresh food products was to become their core business.  As their experience and network increased, award-winning fruit products and international markets have followed.

HPW employed its first staff in Ghana in 2004 to meet the increasing demand for Fairtrade pineapples. In 2005 they sent their first employee to Ghana.  HPW Services Ltd. Ghana was launched in 2006, with the aim of offering management and agricultural support to pineapple producers and matching the cultivation and management of fields to the needs of retailers in Europe.  A new and fruitful partnership had begun.
