Building Tomorrow’s Workforce Today

HPW has officially launched its first TVET Apprenticeship Programme under the theme Building Tomorrow’s Workforce Today. The initiative marks a new chapter in technical and vocational education in Ghana.

For the first time, the concept of structured apprenticeships, a system long established in
Europe, is being introduced in Ghana’s agribusiness sector. The programme connects classroom learning directly with hands-on training inside HPW’s production environment. It
gives young people the opportunity to learn practical skills, gain real work experience and
build the professional foundation needed for long-term careers in the industry.

The programme is built on three core objectives:
1. To open doors for young talents through practical, hands-on training that links
education with real industry experience.
2. To highlight the essential role of technical and vocational skills in driving industrial
growth, competitiveness and national development.
3. To strengthen collaboration between academia, industry and development partners
in building a skilled, future-ready workforce.

By introducing this apprenticeship model, HPW bridges the gap between education and
employment, creating a direct pathway for young Ghanaians into the job market. The
programme benefits not only participants, but also local industries and communities by
developing a more qualified and confident workforce.

From a Beneficiary to a Changemaker

The impact of this initiative is already being felt beyond HPW. One of the young men from
the Chance for Children (CFC) TVET Program has been selected for this highly competitive
apprenticeship in the food processing sector. His journey from receiving support through
CFC, to earning a place in HPW’s apprenticeship programme, and now preparing to become
a future trainer and changemaker, is a powerful example of what this collaboration makes
possible.

As shared by CFC:
This is what happens when industry and social partners work side by side: we open real
pathways to decent work, uplift families, and strengthen our communities and society as a
whole.
